Upgraded to WordPress 2.6

July 16th, 2008

I am impressed with how easy the upgrade was. I connected to my server, deleted the old WP files (other than the ones I had customized), uploaded the new ones and clicked /wp-admin/upgrade.php. Voila! It was done in less than five minutes.

Great job, WordPress staff! That was smooth and easy.

BE CAREFUL! A friend used the WordPress upgrade script and it made his directories world writable. He found that out when he was flagged as a phishing site because some phishers decided to hack his site and use it as a host.

Thank you. Based on that I took a look. Mine are all 755, just like they should be. :)

I’ve upgraded too; the wiki-like history of blog posts is really nice!

But I’m a bit disappointed by the Gears integration because it doesn’t do much… It’s supposed to speed up things, but I don’t notice any difference.
