How grandma sees the remote
February17
This made me laugh, and think a bit. I almost wish consumer devices came with two remotes, one with the basic controls we use all the time, and one with all the other cool features that only a few of us use and refuse to live without. I got this here. The original site has a larger version of the image.

Yes, remotes are really sometimes too complicated for the older generation (or even the younger one). My grandparents had a Sony TV once with a remote which had all controls on one side and just the basic ones (with big buttons) on the other (there was also a case so you wouldn’t accidently hit buttons from the other side). I think this was a pretty good idea. Never saw something similar again, though.
It’s more accurate if you make all the text not only say ‘TV EXPLODES" but also make it illegibly small for anyone over 45. Another problem with people and modern video technology I heard about recently was DVD menus. Instead of "put in drive, press Play", you often have "put in drive, work through pretty customed designed noisy menu that is different on each DVD."
