Morocco blocks Google Maps

I have blogged previously about stuff that doesn’t work in Morocco. At that time, Google Earth was already blocked, but one could still find the same information via Google Maps. I had not checked that again for some time. However, in the last week I have done so several times and have discovered that, while the site comes up, neither the maps nor the satellite data is accessible from within Morocco. What is especially frustrating to me is that I can’t even look at a street map of a city in my home country on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean.
Sigh.

I had never heard of Flash Earth–that’s pretty cool, thanks! It works for all the engines except the Google Maps one.

Well you are a linux expert by now. There are many ways to surf from remote locations. For example you could set up a tunnel to a computer you control elsewhere, such as in the US, and surf from that computer. It would be like an encrypted SSH connection and I doubt that would be blocked, they would not even see it give specific ports. Totally legal and often used.
You could also spoof your IP address, programs such as netcat or Mendax I heard can do this well. I have never tried because I don’t need to do this. I was looking into it a lot when I lived in Asia. Spoffing is complex and I don’t totally get it.
I simply used the first method, and had a computer in Arizona do the surfing for me and mouse an X windows session on that box. It was also just as fast really. Do you have an extra box here in Arizona, I could put it on my network for ya?
There are a number of things that could be done, including several you haven’t mentioned. My frustration is not with an actual inability to use the sites that interest me, but rather that any sort of bypass method would be necessary.
On that last paragraph, check you email for something coming soon.

MARAKKECH …a name which i read in my school books as a name of a country.i only new a little about MARAKKECH that here was held first ”ISLAMIC SUMMET” in 1973 at RABAT.
when first time i came to italia in 2001 i knew that MARAKKECH is only name of a city but name of this country is MOROCCO.
in 2002 i visted morocco for some days and i found it amazing.i saw that every thing in morocco is like my homeland PAKISTAN,its culture its family system its celibirations are like pakistan,just 2 things brought me to a nice surprise NO 1.every one here is educated(most nomber of population) 2:here 95% muslim women are covered with hijaab.
i like morocco and i really love morocco.morocco is as my second home.and i wish to visit or stay in morocco forever.in sha allah.
